Boston, Massachusetts Here We Come!!!!

Hi James and Ali!!!!! (Okay Ali won't be there, but hey!!!! She looks so lovely next to him).


Well, well, well. Looks like Boston is nine days away. Tomorrow I start painting on the screen and getting ready to make some prints on tops of t-shirts for the Days Charity Event. I'm thinking maybe sell a couple as well as give some to the charity itself. The money that they donate goes towards Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which I think is a wonderful cause.
I'll make some sketches and post them up later.
Then I'm going to find some great quality t-shirts to print on. I'm thinking either American Apparel or Target. (Heck, maybe even Walmart). I want some white ones as well as different girly colors (pink, purple, cerulean, lime green). We all know that mostly women watch soap operas. Not to be stereotypical. I'm just looking at the facts, lol.

Besides Christmas cards and rubber duck fashion design, I've been exploring a new arena. Ever since I got my results back from 23andme.com and Dr. McDonald, I've been trying to figure out how to create a body of work. Can one make art from being identified as 87.8% African and 12.2% European? Sure. Art is so universal that anything can be! I love the face. The many emotions, the movements, the features. A billion adjectives can describe how much I enjoy creating art about the face! So in combining the research and facial enthusiasm, abstracted portraiture seemed to be my answer. Goodbye 2009

I was thinking about the pros and cons of 2009 today, on the end of the year of course. I guess what I am thinking about mostly are the cons. Right now, I realize that I haven't done much work since the semester ended or started rewriting thesis draft number 3. It's due in mid January anyways, but still... it would have been beneficial to start writing or at least making some work to gather ideas about what the writing IS about. But the problem is that I am spending much time at Tien''s house and it's all fun and games here. I've been mostly watching TV, movies (we saw "Avatar" in 3D today), playing Wii Fit, eating to my heart's content (how much pumpkin pie have I eaten so far?), Internet surfing (my laptop has since crashed and burned! At home, I am computerless until school starts), and reading a lot of romance novels! The REACH Conference

It was such an honor to be cordially invited to attend the 19th Annual Reaching For Ethnic Awareness and Cultural Heritage Across Dayton (REACH) Conference at Sinclair Community College on Friday February 24, 2012 and to see friends- Willis "Bing" Davis, Betty Bolton, Leesa Haapapuro, James Pate, Kevin Harris, and others in one room while simultaneously meeting new people! A collaboration between Sinclair Community College, Ebonia Gallery, and the Dayton Visual Arts Center (DVAC), REACH is a day long event promoting "learning in the arts and humanities by creating an atmosphere that will build respect, knowledge, appreciation, and understanding for the area's culturally diverse populations."
