Matt Kish: The Superhero Artist Librarian

What happened on another hour walk journey in Dayton-ville? If you guessed something artsy & fartsy, you get a prize! Reading this! Hahaha! Held in the auditorium of Dayton Metro Library was librarian, Matt Kish's brilliant talk about one of the best art related titles published this year, "Moby Dick In Pictures: One Drawing For Every Page." Articulately spoken with remarkable insight and humor, Kish gave the visitors a taste of his upbringing (hippy parents? charming!) and his influences (vinyl LP's, illustrated folklore/science fiction paperbacks & JACK KIRBY: COMIC BOOK GOD!!!!). The passion for Herman Melville's classic, "Moby Dick" was evident in the joyful tone of his voice, the manner of presentation, and in the images themselves. Funny considering that it all started from an innocent little tagged note on Facebook in which he had made a list of top five books and completely omitted his precious "Moby Dick"... I Wasn't Born Yesterday But I Was Born Today

Started my day like no other! Good ole cleansing deeply penetrative, oatmeal pomegranate facial mask by Befine Natural Products (totally would give Burt's Bees a run for their money) pre-shower! Gotta love it! Gives your hands a sweet lil warming sensation before you slather it onto every inch of a dirty, rough from sleep face. Yes, that's my own duckie towel! Soft, adorable, and overall nice to laugh at. It doesn't belong to a baby or toddler. Mine! Mine! Mine! Hahahaha! ;) Birthday or not, no way am I posting a "before" pic. The way I look first thing in the morning is top secret, vaulted, highly classified information! Mrs. Rogers knows me so well! This is why I love her. The chocolate candle smells so deliciously sweet that I was bound to eat up that entire jar of wax, but thank heavens for those two Reese Cups stopping me from inflicting bodily harm on myself. I doubt anyone would want to spend their birthday in an emergency room due to candle consumption.......

Woot! Woot! Now on with the show! For the past few weeks, I've been digging one of a kind items, especially uniquely crafted wearable art that relate to me as an individual, as a creative, free-spirited young woman. It was imperative to find things that speak that language. Some of which I saw on etsy, rarely eBay, and now I've been looking into shops a lot more independent. One purchase I loved was made last Friday, a beautiful bag from an incredibly chic indie store, called Vau Store which features sweet tote bags featuring modest, minimalistic, metaphoric (say that three times fast, I dare you!) designs. I was very lucky for it was sold out a week prior, but the store tweeted me a heads up once it was stocked (and on sale nonetheless!) Drawn by t...
